Every session is tailored to you. Whether you need targeted relief or full-body recovery, choose the treatment that fits your needs.

A targeted form of soft tissue therapy designed to support recovery, improve mobility, and enhance overall performance. It focuses on relieving muscle tension, reducing soreness, and promoting circulation to help the body repair after physical activity.

A key element is mobilisation — guided movements and stretching techniques that help restore joint range of motion, improve flexibility, and reduce stiffness. This combination of hands-on therapy and mobilisation not only speeds up recovery but also helps prevent injury and keeps the body moving efficiently.

Treatments are delivered by Missy Gillespie, Level 3 qualified sports massage therapist in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.

Common
Questions

Does sports massage hurt?
Sports massage can sometimes feel uncomfortable, especially when working on tight or overworked muscles, but it should not be unbearable. The pressure is always adjusted to your tolerance. Many clients describe it as a "good pain" - a sensation that eases as the muscle tension releases. Communication with your therapist is key throughout the session.
How often should I book?
This depends on your activity level and goals. For general maintenance, every 3-6 weeks is ideal. Active gym-goers or runners benefit from every 2-4 weeks. During injury recovery or intense training periods, weekly sessions or as recommended by your therapist work best. Regular sessions help prevent tightness, improve recovery, and reduce injury risk.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move in. For the treatment itself, you will usually undress to your comfort level. You will always be properly draped with towels during the session, and only the area being treated will be exposed at any time. If you prefer, some techniques can also be done over clothing.
Can it help with injuries?
Yes, sports massage can support injury recovery by reducing muscle tension around the injury site, improving blood flow and healing response, breaking down adhesions and scar tissue, and improving mobility and range of motion.
Do I need to be an athlete?
No - sports massage is for everyone, not just athletes. It is beneficial for office workers with neck or back tension, people with repetitive strain or posture issues, gym users and casual exercisers, and anyone experiencing muscle tightness or stress.
